Personal computer vendor Acer Inc (宏碁) will unveil its e-reader products through Libri, one of Germany’s book wholesale service providers, next month, a Libri official said on Tuesday.
Libri sales manager Miriam Hofheinz said the Acer e-readers would be sold for 199 euros (NT$8,000).
Hofheinz said Acer was expected to introduce another e-reader model in November that would have the universal mobile telecommunications system installed. It would be priced at 249 euros.
Before the launch, the e-readers were demonstrated in the Libri booth at the IFA, a six-day consumer electronics and home appliance trade show in Berlin that ended yesterday.
Acer has been making efforts to diversify its product line in an attempt to alleviate the impact of falling gross margins in PC sales.
