Taiwan¡¦s information and technology services (ITS) market grew at a 2.7 percent clip last year, totaling revenues of US$1.88 billion (NT$61.8 billion), market researcher International Data Corporation (IDC) said in a report issued on Monday.
IDC Asia/Pacific Semi-annual IT Services Tracker said Taiwan¡¦s ITS market was worth US$961 million in the latter half of last year, bolstered by government-funded IT projects and the wide application of business intelligence to report, analyze and present data.
IT product services accounted for 47.2 percent of Taiwan¡¦s ITS market, the biggest share of any category, with software product services performing especially well with 10 percent growth, it said.
The strength in IT product services helped boost local ITS market revenues to US$1.88 billion last year, representing 2.7 percent growth compared to 2006, said IDC, which provides market information on the information and communication technology industry.
The companies with the biggest shares of the local ITS market last year were IBM, Hewlett-Packard (HP), SYSTEX (ºë·~ªÑ¥÷¦³¤½¥q), Chunghwa Telecom (¤¤µØ¹q«H), and MiTAC (¯«³q¶°¹Î), with the latter three based in Taiwan.
To sustain the growth of Taiwan¡¦s ITS market, IDC suggested focusing on eco-friendly products.
Software services are also expected to maintain their growth ¡§because of the increasing popularity of service-oriented architecture [SOA] and virtualizations,¡¨ it said.
