The Taipei Automobile Show, which will open tomorrow at the Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall I, will allow car enthusiasts to check all the latest models as well as some futuristic concept cars.

Over 100 of the latest cars will be on display at the show, including leading brands Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Volvo, Jaguar, Audi, Mitsubishi and Nissan, according to the organizer Top Link International Exhibition Co (上聯國際展覽).

Among the highlights included is the Ford "iosis," a concept car which Ford Lio Ho Motor Co (福特六和), the nation's fourth-biggest automaker, bought over from its European factory.

Front and rear gull-wing doors and an overall "kinetic design" are among its striking design elements, Ford Lio Ho said.

Another new model that promises to steal the spotlight is Cadillac's new model DTS-L, a long-wheelbase version of the front-wheel-drive DTS sedan.

The DTS-L adds 8 inches of cabin space, most of it in the rear, plus VIP-level accommodation for rear passengers, including heated outboard seats with four-way power lumbar controls and adjustable headrests, as well as a DVD entertainment system.

The venue is open from 10am to 6pm though next Monday, and visitors can obtain a NT$50 discount voucher from OK Convenience Stores and Taiwan Nikomart Co (福客多) to offset the NT$250 admission fee.
