Luxury-vehicle fans can look forward to the first quarter of next year, when the Ferrari models from Italy will be officially available in this country.
"Taiwan is one of the major markets for luxury products and we want to get a share of it," said Simone Niccolai, sales manager of Maserati Importers.
He made the remarks on the sidelines of a press conference yesterday which introduced Maserati's authorized distributor, Modena Motori Taiwan Co (蒙地拿).
Taiwan is now the 53rd nation where the company has an authorized distributor.
Taiwan has been allocated a yearly quota of 20 to 25 units each for Ferrari and Maserati lineups, Niccolai said.
It is believed that the Ferrari models will come with a price tag of more than NT$10 million (US$296,121) while the Maseratis will cost at least NT$6 million.
Taiwan, China and South Korea are the emerging markets for Maserati, while Japan and Australia are its two largest markets in Asia, Niccolai said.
Modena Motori Taiwan is planning to establish a workshop-showroom in Taipei during the first quarter of next year, which will provide maintenance and repairs, said Fabrice de Murat, president of Modena Motori Taiwan.
It plans to bring in Ferrari F430s and F430 Spiders in the first quarter next year, as well as the Maserati Quattroporte later, he said.
