Leading Swedish telecommunication manufacturer Ericsson Taiwan Ltd and its three local partners yesterday unveiled the world's first mobile Internet protocol (IP) camera with one megapixel resolution to tap into the growing personal security market.
The product, called Pocket View, is a Web camera with wireless transmission capability that supports all mobile phones that adopt the third-generation (3G) standard image format.

The product is set to hit the market next month with a retail price of under NT$10,000 (US$312), said Sean Gowran, president of Ericsson Taiwan, at a press conference yesterday. The exact price will be decided by final retailers, he said.
In a recent consumer survey in Taiwan, Ericsson found that users most want mobile surveillance to monitor home and garage security, as well as to check pets and children.
