Taiwanese fire dancer Yang Li-wei’s (楊立微) final performance at Britain’s Got Talent on Saturday earned unanimous praise from the judges, although she ultimately did not win the competition.
Yang opened her routine by somersaulting onto center stage with flames blazing from her ankles. Next, alongside her husband, Lai Kuan-chih, she balanced on his shoulders while juggling a flaming table with her feet, earning a standing ovation from all four judges at the end of the act.
The performance drew enthusiastic praise from the judging panel, with Amanda Holden describing it as “such a feast.” She said she could not believe how fearless the pair were.

Fellow judge KSI called it “a [Britain’s Got Talent]-winning performance,” while Alesha Dixon praised the duo for raising their game and bringing something new to the stage. Simon Cowell said the act was “breathtaking” and said it was their best performance of the competition.
Speaking after the performance, Yang said she could not believe she was standing on the Britain’s Got Talent final stage. She said she had spent 23 years practicing foot juggling and had personally decorated the juggling table with a flower in the colors of the UK flag.
“It’s a gift for everyone,” she said. “I hope today everyone can remember my name. My name is Li-wei Yang, from Taiwan.”
Yang is the first Taiwanese performer to reach the final of the talent show. She was one of 10 finalists and among five contestants who received a Golden Buzzer during the semi-finals.
After the results were announced, Yang’s troupe, Coming True Fire Group, said in a social media post that her flawless performance was “perfect” and that she was already a champion in their hearts.
The group thanked supporters in Taiwan and around the world for cheering her on.
The competition was won by the Hawkstone Farmers Choir, a group of more than 30 farmers from across the UK.

The case stemmed from a report received by the Kinmen District Prosecutors’ Office on Friday last week from the Jinhu Precinct of the Kinmen County Police Bureau. GLOBALGIVING: ‘ Caving to external pressure is not acceptable for an organization that has cultivated justice reform and human rights for 30 years,’ one NGO said A slew of non-government organizations (NGOs) have withdrawn from the GlobalGiving fundraising platform after it announced it would use “Chinese Taipei” instead of “Taiwan” from next month. The Taiwan Good Rice Association wrote on Facebook on Friday that it was informed on April 28 via a teleconference call of the change, which was made because the platform wanted to operate in China. Taiwan Good Rice is to terminate all cooperative relationships with GlobalGiving in response to the platform’s “unilateral and non-negotiable” decision to remove references to Taiwan, the NGO said. “Taiwan is in the official name of Taiwan Good Rice Association and the

Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) Chairwoman Cheng Li-wun (鄭麗文) yesterday briefed her party’s Central Standing Committee regarding her scheduled visit to the US between Monday next week and June 16, saying that her purpose would be to persuade the US that the Republic of China (ROC) Constitution was a “one China” constitution that would foster stable and peaceful cross-strait relations. The ROC Constitution is the most important defense for all Taiwanese citizens, as it upholds our democracy and has contributed to our robust economy, which aligns with international and US interests, she said. “We would not be troublemakers and drag the US under,”
