In a separate case, he was found guilty in May of last year of attempted forcible intercourse and sentenced to two years and six months in prison by the Shilin District Court, a verdict upheld by the High Court on appeal.
Nono was tried on a total of seven complaints of sexual assault and indecent behavior against a total of six women, though he was found not guilty on the other six counts due to insufficient evidence.
The cases heard today were initially dropped by the Taipei District Prosecutors’ Office due to insufficient evidence, though the two women appealed twice to the High Prosecutors’ Office for reconsideration.
The case was twice transferred to the Shilin District Prosecutors’ Office for further investigation, before Shilin prosecutors charged Nono in August last year.
After Taiwan’s version of the #MeToo movement against sexual harassment went viral in 2023, allegations against Nono surfaced online and the two women filed complaints.
One of the two alleged victims worked at a massage parlor and accused Nono of suddenly exposing himself, forcing her onto a massage table and raping her.
The other woman alleged that she first contacted Nono on social media and then met him in person, where he forcibly kissed her and groped her chest in a car.
