The people had meals from the Beixin branch on Sunday and from the Zhongxing branch on Saturday, with common dishes including rice, cabbage, fried eggs and braised eggs, the New Taipei City Department of Health said.
The city government has collected samples and would make assessments based on test results, the department said.
If the incident is confirmed as food poisoning, it would be referred for investigation under Article 49 of the Act Governing Food Safety and Sanitation (食品安全衛生管理法), it said.
An inspection of the Zhongxing branch today found improperly stored knives, staff with long fingernails and insufficient freezer temperatures, which the business has been ordered to correct, the department said.
If the issues are not resolved in time, Chin Liu Cuisine could face fines ranging from NT$60,000 to NT$200 million (US$1,880 to US$6.26 million) under Article 8, Paragraph 1 of the food safety act, it said.
