The Central Weather Administration (CWA) today issued cold surge advisories for areas in northern Taiwan that will be in effect from this evening to tomorrow morning.
The advisories warn of temperature lows in low-lying areas falling below 10°C in Taoyuan, Hsinchu County, Miaoli County and Shimen District in New Taipei.
Temperatures would fall across Taiwan during the day today, with highs hovering at 18-19°C in the north and 22-24°C in central and southern Taiwan before generally falling at night to 12-13°C in the north and 14-16°C in the south, the CWA forecast.

In terms of precipitation, heavy rain may affect Taiwan's northern coast, Yilan County, and mountainous regions in the Greater Taipei Area today and tomorrow, while northern and eastern Taiwan, mountainous parts of central and southern Taiwan and the Hengchun Peninsula could see localized sporadic showers, the CWA said.
Kaohsiung and Pingtung County may also see sporadic showers today, the CWA said.
Temperatures would rebound slightly over the weekend, with highs reaching 20-23°C in northern Taiwan and 25-26°C in southern parts of Taiwan.
At night and in the early morning, temperatures would hit lows of 10-12°C in the north, 12-13°C in central Taiwan and 15°C in the south, according to CWA data.
Meanwhile, eastern Taiwan, areas north of Taoyuan, the Hengchun Peninsula and mountainous regions in central and southern Taiwan may experience sporadic showers, while other parts of Taiwan would see cloudy to sunny skies, the CWA forecast.

The Kaohsiung Tourism Bureau audited six hotels in an effort to prevent price gouging ahead of Korean band BTS’ concert tour in the city scheduled for Nov. 19, 21 and 22 this year. The bureau on Friday said that the audits — conducted in response to allegations of unfair pricing posted on social media — found no wrongdoing. The military yesterday said it has located the flight data recorder, or black box, of an F-16V jet that disappeared off eastern Taiwan earlier this month, and it would soon deploy a salvage team to try to retrieve it. Air Force Command Headquarters said that while it had pinned down the location of the black box, it was still searching for the aircraft’s sole pilot, air force Captain Hsin Po-yi (辛柏毅).
