Taiwan and Poland have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on economic cooperation at the 13th bilateral economic and trade consultation conference in Wroclaw, Poland, the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) said on Saturday.
Deputy Minister of Economic Affairs Cynthia Kiang (江文若) and Michal Jaros, secretary of state in Poland’s Ministry of Economic Development and Technology, signed the MOU at the conference on Friday in support of the establishment of special economic zones and industrial parks, the MOEA said in a statement.
The two sides discussed cooperation in several fields, including information and communications technologies, semiconductors, renewable energy development, and innovations by small and medium-sized enterprises, the MOEA said.

Kiang led Taiwan’s largest-ever delegation, comprising more than 100 members, to Poland to attend the conference in Wroclaw.
Addressing the conference on Friday last week, Kiang said the large economic delegation Poland sent to Taiwan for last year’s forum and Taiwan’s large delegation this year showed the willingness of both sides to strengthen bilateral economic ties.
At the same time, the close Taiwan-Poland partnership founded on shared democratic values and the spirit of innovation could become a model for Taiwan and other European nations, she said.
Jaros described Taiwan and Poland as important and trusted economic and trade partners, and said that his country hoped to work with Taiwan to build a resilient and safe supply chain.
Poland is Taiwan’s sixth largest trading partner in the EU, according to MOEA.
Last year, bilateral trade totaled US$2.07 billion, while as of September, Poland had invested US$814,000 in Taiwan and Taiwan had invested US$98.85 million in Poland.

Every year, Tainan captures about 6,000 snakes which have made their way into people’s homes. Of the six major venomous snakes in Taiwan, the cobra, the many-banded krait, the brown-spotted pit viper and the bamboo viper are the most frequently captured. The high concentration of bamboo vipers captured in Sinhua District is puzzling. Tainan Agriculture Bureau Forestry and Nature Conservation Division head Chu Chien-ming (朱健明) earlier this week said that the

BREACH OF CONTRACT: The bus operators would seek compensation and have demanded that the manufacturer replace the chips with ones that meet regulations Two bus operators found to be using buses with China-made chips are to demand that the original manufacturers replace the systems and provide compensation for breach of contract, the Veterans Affairs Council said yesterday. Democratic Progressive Party Legislator Michelle Lin (林楚茵) yesterday said that Da Nan Bus Co and Shin-Shin Bus Co Ltd have fielded a total of 82 buses that are using Chinese chips.
