A group of Swedish lawmakers is visiting Taiwan from yesterday through Saturday, during which they are to attend a series of events celebrating Double Ten National Day, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said today.
The 11-member cross-party delegation is led by Alexandra Anstrell, and joined by Maria Stockhaus, Staffan Eklöf, Alexandra Völke, Hanna Gunnarsson, Ann-Sofie Lifvenhage, Nima Gholam Ali Pour, Johnny Svedin, Malin Höglund, Erik Hellsborn and Johanna Rantsi, the ministry said in a news release.

During their stay, they are to meet with Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴), Legislative Speaker Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜) and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs François Wu (吳志中), and are to attend events celebrating National Day on Friday, it said.
They would also meet with Mainland Affairs Council Deputy Minister Shen Yu-chung (沈有忠) and Civil Aeronautics Administration Director-General Ho Shu-ping (何淑萍), as well as visit the military-funded Institute for National Defense and Security Research and the Taiwan FactCheck Center, it added.
Eight Chinese naval vessels and 24 military aircraft were detected crossing the median line of the Taiwan Strait between 6am yesterday and 6am today, the Ministry of National Defense said this morning. The aircraft entered Taiwan’s northern, central, southwestern and eastern air defense identification zones, the ministry said. The armed forces responded with mission aircraft, naval vessels and shore-based missile systems to closely monitor the situation, it added. Eight naval vessels, one official ship and 36 aircraft sorties were spotted in total, the ministry said.
