Current representative to Sweden Gu Ruey-sheng (谷瑞生) is to be the next representative to Germany after being approved by the Executive Yuan to succeed Shieh Jhy-wey (謝志偉), who is to be appointed as the nation's new envoy to the EU and Belgium.
The Presidential Office announced Shieh’s transfer on Thursday last week.
It is the fourth time that Gu is being posted to Taiwan’s representative office in Germany.

Gu was the nation’s Deputy Representative to Germany between 2013 and 2017, according to the official Web site of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He was also the Third and Second Secretary of the Taipei Representative Office in Germany between 1994 and 2001, the Web site showed.
In other changes, deputy representative to Israel Abby Lee (李雅萍) has been promoted to representative to Israel, and deputy representative to Côte d'Ivoire Shin Chi-chih (辛繼志) has been promoted to representative to Côte d'Ivoire, according to the Cabinet.
Eight Chinese naval vessels and 24 military aircraft were detected crossing the median line of the Taiwan Strait between 6am yesterday and 6am today, the Ministry of National Defense said this morning. The aircraft entered Taiwan’s northern, central, southwestern and eastern air defense identification zones, the ministry said. The armed forces responded with mission aircraft, naval vessels and shore-based missile systems to closely monitor the situation, it added.
