A fire at a migrant worker dormitory in New Taipei City's Tucheng District (土城) early this morning killed a migrant worker in her 30s and left five others injured.
According to firefighters, the fire broke out on the first floor of the four-story dormitory around 1:30am.
The fire, which quickly spread to the rest of the building, was extinguished around 2:56 a.m., firefighters said.

Firefighters rescued six people from the building, one of whom, a woman in her 30s, surnamed Nguyen (阮) and supposed to come from Vietnam, was later pronounced dead at hospital, according to local news media.
Local media said that 15 people lived in the dormitory but it was unclear how many were in the building at the time of the fire today, a public holiday.
The fire department said the five others rescued from the building were in a stable condition after receiving treatment in hospital.
Local media said one of the five injured, a woman in her 30s, suffered burns in her arms and legs, while the other fours, also females in their 20s or 30s, were treated for minor smoke inhalation.
The fire department said an investigation has been launched to pin down the cause of the fire.
