The New Taipei City Government’s New Year's Eve “Shining New Taipei 1314 Cross-River Fireworks” is to take place on Tuesday next week from 8:25pm along the Tamsui (淡水) and Bali (八里) riverbanks, with the area's public transit to run throughout the night.
The Danhai Light Rail (LRT), the Ankeng LRT and the Circular Line are to run throughout the night to allow visitors to enjoy the New Year's Eve celebrations and to accommodate increased transportation needs, the New Taipei Metro Corporation said.
The Blue Ocean Line section of the Danhai LRT is to also increase the frequency of services during the evening peak time, from three trains to eleven, reducing the wait time to as short as six minutes depending on crowd conditions, after which the overnight service is to be adjusted according to demand, it said.

New Year's Eve activities are to start in Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf, Customs Wharf and Bali Left Bank from 3pm, including artist performances, food stalls and creative markets, it said.
The fireworks display is to last 13 minutes and 14 seconds, using a total of 30,000 fireworks before 12 artists are set to perform, including South Korean boy band SUPER JUNIOR’s subunit L.S.S. (Leeteuk, Shindong, and Siwon), Cosmos People and May Sun (孫淑媚).
Visitors are encouraged to purchase the NT$50 New Taipei Light Rail one-day travel ticket and spend the day visiting the attractions along the Tamsui riverbank before attending the evening firework display. The LRT would continue operating to famous late-night eateries such as Shun Chih Wang Fried Chicken (吮指王炸雞), a five-minute walk from Ganzhenlin Station; Pier Salon & Bar (碼頭沙龍餐酒館), an eight-minute walk from Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf Station; Undertree Lounge Bar (樹下餐酒), an eight-minute walk from Danjin Beixin Station; and Panda Oden (胖達關東煮), a nine-minute walk from Tamkang University Station, it said.
All visitors are advised to use public transportation to travel to and from the event to avoid traffic jams and limited parking spaces, it said.

The Central Weather Administration has issued a heat alert for southeastern Taiwan, warning of temperatures as high as 36°C today, while alerting some coastal areas of strong winds later in the day.
