Local governments are to conduct at least four unannounced inspections of kindergartens annually to ensure quality of their management and facilities, the Ministry of Education said today.
As the school year begins, parents are concerned about the quality of kindergartens, the ministry said in a news release.
A joint inspection mechanism has been established among the nation’s 22 cities and municipalities, it said.

Local health, fire, construction and other departments would conduct at least four inspections per year, the ministry said, adding that they would be conducted at random times and without advance notice.
The goal is to ensure management quality, facility safety and hygiene, and safety of school buses, it said.
Fines would be issued for any violations, and schools would be required to improve within a certain period of time, it added.
Local governments would also be required to hold two practical training sessions for inspectors annually starting from this year, the ministry said.
