One person has died and eight injured after a crane boom fell on a Taichung MRT car on Wednesday afternoon.
The incident occurred at 12:29pm at the intersection of Wenxin South Fifth Road and Wenxin Road in Taichung's Nantun District (南屯), near Feng-le Park Station.
The Taichung Fire Bureau has transported at least nine people to hospitals for treatment, eight of whom have minor injuries, the city government said.

One person was pronouned dead after a rescue team was unable to resuscitate her, it said.
The MRT has partially halted service and traffic management is in effect.
MRT service is still running between Beitun Main Station and Taichung City Hall, and between Jiuzhangli and HSR Taichung Station.

A crane boom at a nearby construction site fell from more than 30 stories high onto the tracks as a car passed, surveillance footage showed.
The Taichung Urban Development Bureau ordered work at the construction site to immediately cease, and vowed to issue fines after an investigation.
