Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Taipei City Councilor Wang Shih-chien (王世堅) apologized in public yesterday following media reports that he visited a motel with a former assistant last month.
The Chinese-language Next Magazine published photographs yesterday allegedly showing Wang and a woman driving to a motel in Lujhou Distict (蘆洲), New Taipei City, on Aug. 20.
It was the second time that Wang, who is married, was caught on camera entering a motel with a woman. The woman photographed last month was also the same woman he was caught on camera with eight years ago.

Saying he had made a mistake, Wang apologized to the public, his wife and family at a press conference yesterday morning.
“I will continue with my efforts to complete my mandate this term and stop all campaign activities,” he said.
“I will wait for the public to decide my fate,” said Wang, who is running for re-election on Nov. 29.
A veteran politician, Wang has served as a legislator and a city councilor, and is known for his fiery outbursts inside and outside the legislature and council.
He garnered a lot of media attention during the Sunflower protests in March, when he clashed with former gang leader Chang An-le (張安樂), who is also the head of the China Unification Promotion Party.
Chang, who was leading a counterprotest, said his group was there to reclaim the legislature, which was occupied by young activists protesting against the government’s handling of a proposed service trade agreement with China.
Undaunted, Wang shouted, in English, to Chang and his followers: “Over my dead body.”
He parodied the phrase during a campaign early last month, putting up a billboard featuring Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) Taipei mayoral candidate Sean Lien (連勝文), son of former vice president Lien Chan (連戰), with the phrase “over my dad’s money,” taking a jab at Sean Lien’s wealthy background.
KMT Taipei city council candidate Hsu Hung-ting (徐弘庭), Sean Lien’s former special assistant, answered by erecting a billboard next to Wang’s, with a picture of Wang and the words “Over whose body,” referring to Wang’s extramarital affair scandal eight years ago.

Shih Hsin University President Chen Ching-he (陳清河) yesterday issued a public apology for comments made in his commencement speech last week, stating that he has asked the school to suspend his duties and halt his wages for two months as a show of contrition. At the commencement ceremony on May 30, Chen said, “If you don’t manage your time well, or your own emotions, or your health, then I am telling every one of you — put a quick end to ‘you,’ because the world has no need for ‘you.’” The comments have sparked significant controversy online, and Chen through an open
