In a show of vitality and creativity, while meeting rising demand from couples wanting to use the Greater Kaohsiung Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system’s Formosa Boulevard Station for wedding photography, Kaohsiung Rapid Transit Corp (KTRC) and local wedding gown stores have launched a “Sweet Happiness” train.
KTRC and local stores last week launched the service by holding a live wedding gown modeling show on the train.
Participating stores said that since Formosa Boulevard Station features the famed Dome of Light — said to be the largest structure made of glass within any subway station in the world — many couples have designated it a “must-visit” for their wedding photography.
The new train features three separate cars of different themes — one focusing on maritime backgrounds, the second featuring the interior of castles and the third resembling an open sunny field, KTRC said.
Wedding gown store owners said that with the introduction of the train, photo sessions would now be much more practical and dynamic.
By arranging for couples to have their wedding photos taken on the train, there would be no need for fancy clothes or other equipment, and the themed walls would provide a good background, the store owners said.
The train will be primarily used on the orange line of the Kaohsiung MRT, as it included the vast majority of wedding photography sites, such as Dadong Arts Center, the Greater Kaohsiung Cultural Center, the Pier 2 Arts Center and Sizhiwan (西子灣), KTRC said.
KTRC said the train would operate until February next year, adding that it hopes to add more themed cars if the train proves popular.
