The nominations for the 48th Golden Horse Awards were announced yesterday, with Taiwanese epic Warriors of the Rainbow: Seediq Bale topping the list with 11 nominations, while two other Taiwanese box-office magnets Jump Ashin! (翻滾吧!阿信) and You Are the Apple of My Eye (那些年,我們一起追的女孩) earned five and four nominations respectively.
Sixty-four of the 161 movies that applied for the awards, which will be held on Nov. 26, made it to the second round, the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival and Awards Committee said.
Seediq Bale is nominated for best picture, best director, best new performer, best supporting actor, best original film score, best original film song, best sound effects, best action choreography, best makeup and costume design, best art direction and best cinematography.
Three of the four actors nominated for best new performer are from the film — Lin Ching-tai (林慶台), Hsu Yi-fan (徐詣帆) and Lin Yuan-chieh (林源傑) — while Ko Chen-tung (柯震東) appeared in You Are the Apple of My Eye.
Eddie Peng (彭于晏) from Jump Ashin! is the only Taiwanese nominated for best leading actor. His rivals are Hong Kong’s Andy Lau (劉德華) and China’s actors Ge You (葛優) and Wang Qianyuan (王千源).
Nominees for best leading actress are Hong Kong’s Deanie Ip (葉德嫻), who recently won the best actress award at the Venice Film Festival for her portrayal of an aging domestic servant in A Simple Life (桃姐); Taiwan’s Shu Qi (舒淇); China’s Qin Hailu (秦海璐); and Michelle Chen (陳妍希).
