The 20 most popular beef noodle shops in Taipei were revealed yesterday, as the Taipei City Government encouraged the public to take the opportunity to taste the traditional dish during this year's Taipei International Beef Noodle Festival. Based on the results of a public vote and ratings by food industry professionals, the Taipei City Economic Development department yesterday announced the top-20 shops, including winners from last year Lao Tung Beef Noodle Shop (老董牛肉細粉麵店), Lao Chang Beef Noodle Shops (老張牛肉麵) and Yong Kang Beef Noodle Shop (永康牛肉麵) and newcomers such as Su Chia Beef Noodle Shop (粟家牛肉麵). A beef noodle cooking contest will be held at the Taipei World Trade Center on Nov. 4 and 5 to mark the end of the festival.
Three batches of banana sauce imported from the Philippines were intercepted at the border after they were found to contain the banned industrial dye Orange G, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said yesterday.
