Two Democratic Progressive Party legislators and 30 other people working for four hospitals in the southern part of the country were prosecuted by the Tainan District Public Prosecutor's Office yesterday on charges of health insurance fraud.

Prosecutors charge that they defrauded the Bureau of National Health Insurance of NT$190 million (US$5.8 million) and NT$110 million respectively by making false insurance claims.
Lin and Chiu paid NT$3 million each in bail last month.
The prosecutors are also seeking four-year prison terms for Tseng Chin-yuan (曾錦元), president of the Dasoon Hospital in Kaohsiung City, and Lai Cheng-tien (賴禎添), president of the Fu Chiang Hospital in Tainan City.

A former soldier and an active-duty army officer were yesterday indicted for allegedly selling classified military training materials to a Chinese intelligence operative for a total of NT$79,440. The Taipei District Prosecutors’ Office indicted Chen Tai-yin (陳泰尹) and Lee Chun-ta (李俊達) for contravening the National Security Act (國家安全法) and the Anti-Corruption Act (貪污治罪條例).
