Superstar Shohei Ohtani on Saturday night hit a home run in the ninth inning for the Los Angeles Dodgers on his return to the plate after the birth of his second child.
However, the late rally was not enough for the home team, as the Baltimore Orioles held on to defeat the Dodgers 3-2.
Trevor Rogers allowed one hit, a single to center field by the Dodgers’ Tommy Edman in the fifth inning, over seven dominant scoreless innings for the Orioles.

Rogers (4-7) had six strikeouts, walked two and earned his second win in his past 11 starts.
Blaze Alexander had a two-run double for the Orioles, while Samuel Basallo and Leody Taveras each had two hits. Baltimore improved to 2-3 on a nine-game West Coast road trip.
The Orioles solved Dodgers right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto for the second consecutive season.

News that Ohtani was about to have a second child emerged unexpectedly on Friday. He was not in the Dodgers’ lineup that day, which was posted much later than usual, after the team said he was “away from the team on paternity.”
The absence of the two-way star did not last long, as he returned to the leadoff spot the next day.
Ohtani on Saturday confirmed the birth in a post on Instagram.
“We are again overjoyed to experience this wonderful day in our lives together. Thank you for being born safely,” read a message from Ohtani and his wife, Mamiko Tanaka.
They also thanked supporters.
The post showed an image of a baby’s hands and feet in a blue blanket suggesting that Ohtani might now have a son in addition to his daughter, who was born in April last year. Tucked in the baby’s arms was a tiny stuffed version of Ohtani’s beloved dog, Decoy, who also got his own photo at the bottom of the post.
The private Ohtani has never publicly revealed his daughter’s name and has carefully avoided showing her face in the rare family photos he posts to his social media.

However, South Korea’s preparations on Tuesday were interrupted by the incident, which prompted fears of spying, with South Korean news agency Yonhap reporting that the drone was brought down by Mexico’s military using radio
