The Oakland Athletics promoted their No. 4 prospect, Lin Wei-en, to Triple-A on Friday, making the 20-year-old the youngest Taiwanese player to reach that level in US baseball.
The Athletics assigned the Taiwanese left-hander to their Triple-A affiliate, the Las Vegas Aviators, the day after he was named the Texas League’s Pitcher of the Month for last month.
Lin began his professional career last year and advanced from Low-A to High-A and then Double-A in a single season.

This year, Lin began the season in Double-A and has pitched 51-1/3 innings over 10 appearances, going 3-1 with 53 strikeouts and a 1.93 earned run average.
At 20 years and 7 months old, Lin broke the record held by Lin Yu-min as the youngest Taiwanese player to reach Triple-A. The Arizona Diamondbacks promoted Lin Yu-min to the club’s Triple-A affiliate in 2024 when he was 21 years and 2 months old.
Earlier this season, Lin Wei-en was selected for the Top 100 prospect lists compiled by Baseball America and MLB Pipeline. Baseball America ranked him No. 93, while MLB Pipeline placed him at No. 91.
Following the promotion, Lin became the third Taiwanese pitcher playing in Triple-A, joining Athletics prospect Zhuang Chen Zhong-ao and Lin Yu-min.
