The Wei Chuan Dragons’ Chu Yu-hsien on Wednesday blasted a three-run homer as part of a seven-run rally in the seventh inning to defeat the CTBC Dragons 8-2.
The win puts the Dragons tied 2-1 atop the standings after three games, alongside the Uni-President Lions, the Fubon Guardians and the TSG Hawks ahead of today and tomorrow’s games. Yesterday was a rest day.
The Brothers and last year’s champions the Rakuten Monkeys, who have played four games each, are tied 3-1 at the bottom of the standings.

Outfielder Kuo Tian-shin put the Dragons on the board at Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium in the third inning off a sacrifice fly from two-time CPBL home run leader Giljegiljaw Kungkuan.
Brothers first baseman Chen Chun-hsiu responded in the bottom of the third with a solo home run off American righty John Gant to tie the game.
The Brothers’ Venezuelan starter Mario Sanchez kept the Dragons bats mostly silent through the sixth winning, giving up just one run.
In the bottom of the sixth, Dragons reliever Li Chao defused a bases loaded situation, setting up a clutch double play, but giving up a run in the process.
Li earned the win and Most Valuable Player of the game.
It was in the seventh when the Dragons took off, starting with Liu Jen-win hitting a double to send home Liu Ji-hong to tie the game, before Chang You-jia scored off an RBI single from Jiang Shao-hong.
With the bases loaded, Chen Tzu-hao hit a fly ball to left field for a single for Jiang to score. Another sacrifice fly from Giljegiljaw sent Chang Cheng-yu home from third base to make it 5-2, before Chu’s dominating three-run homer.
Elsewhere, Chen Wun-jie launched a two-run homer in the third inning to give the Hawks the lead on the Monkeys’ home turf, Rakuten Taoyuan Baseball Stadium.
The Monkeys grabbed a run in the bottom of the fifth to make it 4-1, but never got any further. Wu Nien-ting hit a two-run double in the ninth and the Hawks won 6-1.
In Tainan, the Guardians staged a late comeback in the eighth to cut the Lions’ lead by half, but ultimately lost 4-2.
Tonight, the Lions take on the Brothers in Taichung, the Monkeys face the Guardians at New Taipei City’s Sinjhuang Baseball Stadium and the Hawks are to play the Dragons at Taipei Tianmu Baseball Stadium.
