Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah apologized to his Liverpool teammates following his recent explosive interview, midfielder Curtis Jones has said.
Jones told Sky Sports in an interview published on Friday that Salah had addressed the squad to explain his comments, stressing that the situation did not affect the dressing room and that the players remain united.
“Mo is his own man, and he can say his own stuff. He apologized to us and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody or made you feel any sort of way, I apologize.’ That’s the man that he is,” Jones said.

In his incendiary comments after the English Premier League draw with Leeds United on Dec. 6, the 33-year-old Egyptian lashed out at the club and coach Arne Slot, telling journalists he felt he had been made a scapegoat for their poor start to the season, and suggested that he might not have long left at Anfield.
Liverpool, champions last season, sit seventh in the Premier League standings with 26 points, 10 behind leaders Arsenal.
Earlier on Friday, Slot said there were no lingering issues with Salah, who was omitted from the squad for their 1-0 UEFA Champions League win at Inter on Dec. 9.
The forward came off the bench and provided an assist in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend before leaving for the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo on Friday said that he will probably be out for an extended period after hurting his right calf again after a similar injury caused him to miss eight games earlier this season. Antetokounmpo had his right calf wrapped in the first half of their 102-100 loss to the Denver Nuggets. He did not appear comfortable the rest of the night and left for good with 34 seconds remaining. “At the end, I could not move no more, so I had to stop playing,” Antetokounmpo said. The two-time NBA Most Valuable Player said he expected to undergo an MRI
The chaotic scenes which tarnished Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final will forever overshadow a tournament that had until that point been a great success for hosts Morocco, on and off the pitch. Everything appeared set up for Walid Regragui’s Morocco side to cement their status as Africa’s preeminent footballing force as the continent’s top-ranked team made it to the final against Senegal in Rabat. Home advantage unquestionably brought extra pressure on the 2022 FIFA World Cup semi-finalists, but it also perhaps played into their hands for the controversial penalty award at the end of normal time in the
