Two sets of Taiwanese duos were last night after press time to face their respective men’s and women’s doubles final opponents at the Hylo Open in Saarbrucken, Germany.
Two-time Olympic badminton men’s doubles gold medalist Wang Chi-lin and partner Chiu Hsiang-chieh on Saturday reached their final after defeating compatriots Lee Jhe-huei and Yang Po-hsuan, while Hsu Yin-hui and Lin Jhih-yun advanced in the women’s doubles with a victory over Turkey’s Bengisu Ercetin and Nazlican Inci.
The world No. 21 Taiwanese pair of Wang and Chiu were last night to face world No. 11 shuttlers Sabar Karyaman Gutama and Moh Reza Pahlevi Isfahani of Indonesia to attempt to earn their first victory at a Super 500 or higher event this year.

The women’s doubles second seeds Hsu and Lin, who are also world No. 10, were to face the French pairing of Camille Pognante and Margot Lambert in the early match on Court 1 at the Saarlandhalle.
In Saturday’s Taiwan-versus-Taiwan showdown, Wang and Chiu secured the advantage early in the first game, leaving their compatriots trailing by at least three points throughout the game, before Lee and Yang staged a dramatic comeback, winning four straight points to push the to close in on Wang and Chiu by winning four straight points to push the score to 15-14.
Wang and Chiu quickly returned to form, putting up five consecutive points to take a 19-14 lead before finishing 21-17.
In the second game, Lee and Yang broke a 15-15 tie to soar past their opponents to win 21-16.
The roller-coaster match continued in the third, as Lee and Yang narrowed each gap Wang and Chiu carved out, with both pairs reaching multiple match points. However, Wang and Chiu were able to capitalize on their momentum when they led 23-22 before winning 24-22.
Hsu and Lin defeated their semi-final opponents in two games. Both pairs were on equal footing in the first game with multiple game points between them before the Taiwanese broke the final tie 28-26.
Hsu and Lin continued their momentum to breeze past Ercetin and Inci 21-15 in the second game.
