Taiwanese martial artists bagged one gold, four silver and three bronze medals at the World Junior Wushu Championships in Brunei, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Brunei Darussalam said yesterday.
Liu Yu-tzu won the gold medal in the girl’s taijiquan A group and also picked up a silver medal in the girl’s taijijian A group.
Hu Hsin-ling, Yu Min-hsun and Chen Chao-hsiang each won a silver medal in the girl’s jianshu B, boy’s nangun B and boy’s taijijian A groups respectively.

Hu also won a bronze medal in the girl’s qiangshu B group, while Yu and Lin Shih-hung picked up bronze medals in the boy’s nanquan B and boy’s daoshu B groups respectively.
Groups A, B and C refer to contestants aged 15 to 18, 12 to 14 and eight to 11 respectively.
The results were the best ever in the competition for Taiwan, which had previously won one silver medal 10 years ago, the office said.
The International Wushu Federation holds the World Junior Wushu Championships every two years for athletes younger than 19.
This year, the ninth edition, opened on Wednesday and ends today. The competitions held from Wednesday to Saturday attracted almost 800 participants from 52 countries and regions, the organizers said.
