Second-seeded Elina Svitolina is to square off against sixth-seeded Eugenie Bouchard in the Malaysian Open final later today, after both won their semi-final matches in straight sets.
Svitolina, ranked 19th in the world, easily dispatched China’s Lin Zhu 6-3, 6-3 in the first semi-final match which only lasted about an hour yesterday.
The 21-year-old Ukrainian had advanced to the semi-finals after defeating Slovakian Kristina Kucova on Friday.

Setting up her showdown with Svitolina, world No. 52 Bouchard outpaced Britain’s Naomi Broady 6-4, 6-3.
Bouchard had a difficult year last year, but the 22-year-old Canadian has recently been showing signs of returning to form.
