Dominik Hasek made 23 saves in his third game of the NHL preseason, leading the Ottawa Senators over the Buffalo Sabres 5-2 on Wednesday.
Zdeno Chara, Steve Martins, Chris Neil, Anton Volchenkov and Chris Phillips scored for the Senators. It was Hasek's second appearance in Buffalo since orchestrating his own trade from the Sabres to Detroit following the 2001 season. Hasek played nine seasons in Buffalo.
Hasek was solid throughout a game he was rarely tested in. The 40-year-old has now allowed just four goals in his three outings this preseason.

Red Wings 9, Blue Jackets 0
At Detroit, Robert Lang scored twice in a 3:08 stretch in the first period to lead Detroit.
Nicklas Lidstrom and Kyle Quincey also scored in the first period to give the Red Wings a 4-0 lead. Columbus goalie Marc Denis was pulled midway through the second period after surrendering six goals on 26 shots.
Dan Cleary, Rem Murray and Mathieu Schneider extended the Red Wings' advantage to 7-0 in the second period, and rookie Johan Franzen and Tomas Holmstrom had third-period goals.
Detroit goalie Manny Legace stopped all 18 shots from the Blue Jackets to give the Red Wings their first shutout of the preseason.
Bruins 5, Canadiens 2
At Moncton, New Brunswick, Patrice Bergeron, Tom Fitzgerald, Ben Walter and Brad Boyes scored third-period goals in Boston's win.
Pat Leahy also scored and Finnish rookie Hannu Toivonen made 39 saves for the Bruins, coming off a 4-3 overtime loss to the Canadiens on Tuesday.

At Dallas, rookie Jussi Jokinen scored with 45.5 seconds left in overtime to lead Dallas over St. Louis. Jokinen took a lead pass from Philippe Boucher, skated in alone and fired his fourth goal past goaltender Reinhard Divis.
Bill Guerin had two goals and Johan Hedberg stopped 22 shots for the Stars (4-3), who won 3-1 at St. Louis on Tuesday night.
Jeff Hoggan scored on the first shot for St. Louis (2-3) a minute into the opening period.
Guerin got his fifth goal of the pre-season on a breakaway four minutes into the second period to tie it at 1, but Colin Hemingway's tap-in nearly three minutes later put St. Louis back in front.

At Calgary, Alberta, Chris Simon scored twice and Miikka Kiprusoff made 19 saves as Calgary thrashed Edmonton.
Stephane Yelle, Shean Donovan and Dion Phaneuf also scored for Calgary, which had four goals on five shots in the third period.

At Glendale, Arizona, Wayne Primeau scored on a rebound early in the second period and Vesa Toskala had 25 saves to help San Jose remain unbeaten in the preseason with a win over coach Wayne Gretzky's Phoenix.
The Sharks (6-0) scored the power-play goal at 18:41 of the second when Phoenix goalie Curtis Joseph blocked Niko Dimitrakos' shot, but the puck deflected out to Primeau, who knocked it into the unguarded right side of the net.

At Anaheim, California, Steve McCarthy scored the go-ahead goal on a power-play with 9:22 remaining, and Vancouver beat Anaheim.
