The ACT Brumbies ended the regular season as the class act in rugby's Super 12, finishing where they'd been most of the round-robin tournament -- in first place.
The Brumbies beat the Waikato Chiefs 15-12 Saturday to finish with an 8-3 record and 40 points, six better than second-place Canterbury. The Crusaders lost 37-20 to the Wellington Hurricanes on Friday night after clinching a semifinal place, like the Brumbies had, the week before.
ACT will take on Waikato at Canberra in one semifinal while the Crusaders will host South Africa's Stormers in Christchurch, New Zealand, both next Saturday. Waikato advanced when it picked up a bonus point in its loss to the Brumbies, while the Stormers moved into a playoff position with a 31-24, bonus-point win over the Sharks.
