Meanwhile, the CPBL confirmed that the League will have three All-star games with the national team in an effort to promote the upcoming 34th Baseball World Cup, which will be held in Taipei next month.
The All-star team will be led by Elephants' coach Lin Yi-tseng (林易增), one of the most successful players in Taiwan's history, who retired in March this year.
The three games will be held tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday, in Tainan, Taichung and Taipei.
Taipei won the bid to hold the this year's Cup in 1999.
There will be 16 teams in this year's World Cup. The teams are divided into two groups and include: the US, South Korea, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Italy, Taiwan, South Africa and France in the Group A. Cuba, Japan, Australia, Canada, Panama, Holland, Philippines and Russia comprise Group B.
This year has been designated Taiwan's "Baseball Year."
