Lien called Soong a "traitor," criticizing him as betraying the party by running for the presidency on his own and using inflammatory speeches to hurt the image of the KMT.
Lien said Soong was unappreciative of the efforts the party had made "to cultivate him."
Soong's support rate has dropped significantly since allegations of financial impropriety were brought against him by a KMT legislator.
Until now, at least three separate allegations of questionable funds have been leveled against him, and not one has yet been adequately explained.
At the same time, however, Lien also lashed out at Chen, calling him an "impetuous maniac."
Lien said Chen's political platforms easily "put the country in a very dangerous plight."
He also said Chen was a "clown" who used all sorts of strange ideas to please the voters.
