ˇ He hasn’t seen the movie. I haven’t seen it, either.
χ He hasn’t seen the movie. I haven’t seen it, too.
He likes chocolate; I also like it.
He likes chocolate; I like it, too.
He doesn’t like Gone With the Wind; I don’t like it, either.
He doesn’t like Gone With the Wind; I also don’t like it.
He doesn’t know her phone number; nor do I.
ˇ He was not upset. Neither/Nor was I.
χ He was not upset. So was I.
He likes to play the guitar, and so do I.
He likes playing the piano, and so do I.
He doesn’t like playing tennis; neither/nor do we.
He wouldn’t go to church; neither/nor would you.
He can’t whistle; neither/nor can you.
ˇ Not even schoolchildren will believe such a lie.
ˇ Even schoolchildren will not believe such a lie.
χ Even no schoolchildren will believe such a lie.
用 not even... 或 even... not...,而不可用 even no...。
/
ˇ He has not arrived yet.
χ He has still not arrived.
He is still here.(現尚在此)
He is not here yet.(尚未來此)
There is yet ( = still) time.
ˇ When will he be here? He has just arrived.
ˇ When will he be here? He arrived just now.
χ When will he be here? He just arrived.
just now 作「片刻之前」(= not long ago)解,與過去一般時態連用;作 at this moment 解,則與現在一般時態連用。例如:He is rather busy just now.。

★ Bilingual Story is a fictionalized account. The mango looked perfect. It sat on the fruit stand like a small sunset, red on one side and gold on the other. “I’ll take this one,” said Daniel. The fruit seller shook her head. “Not that one.” Daniel was surprised. “Why not? It looks beautiful.” “Yes,” she said, “but beautiful is not always ready.” She picked up another mango and held it near his nose. “First, smell here.” Daniel smelled the top of the mango. It was sweet and warm. “Good mangoes have a smell,” she said. “Next, feel the weight.”
In 2023, an 80-year-old woman in Taipei suffocated her paralyzed son after over five decades of caring for him. Turning herself in immediately, she confessed that worsening health and anxiety about who would care for him after her death had driven her to act. The court, acknowledging her difficult situation, sentenced her to two-and-a-half years in prison while recommending a presidential pardon. This rare judicial recommendation drew a complicated social response. Supporters argue that the mother’s half-century of caregiving renders her deserving of compassion instead of incarceration, believing that allowing her to live her final years in dignity and
