“Igloos” are good examples to show how smart people are to adapt to the environment.
「冰屋」是展示聰明人如何適應環境的好例子。
Igloo are houses or shelters made of snow or ice. They are dome-shaped and are built with blocks of packed snow. It is the traditional house style for Inuit living in some northern countries. The entrance of an igloo is very short and shaped like a tunnel, so the hot air wouldn’t get out easily. Moving inside, we can see the sleeping or sitting area which is usually built on a platform that is higher than the entrance. This helps keep the cold air at the entrance so that it can be warmer inside, since hot air rises. Small igloos can be used by the hunters, medium ones are used as winter homes for families and the larger ones are for gathering places and community living spaces.
