Following predictions made by Peter So (蘇民峰), a famous Hong Kong fortune-teller, rumors are doing the rounds that Lin Chi-ling (林志玲) is set to get hitched. According to So, the supermodel’s stars are aligned for a Year of the Rabbit betrothal.
All eyes are on moneybags Scott Chiu (邱士楷), the son of a toilet magnate who has dated Lin and is the candidate her parents are most satisfied with, according to the Liberty Times (the Taipei Times’ sister paper), the Apple Daily and the United Daily News.
Pop Stop, however, predicts that she’ll wed the slightly more frugal Jerry Yan (言承旭) because both stars become teary-eyed at the mention of the other’s name, as shown by separate appearances on Happy Camp (快樂大本營), a Chinese talk show. Will love or money win out? Stay tuned.

Another prediction: Edison Chen (陳冠希) will make an ass of himself throughout 2011. He’s already off to a good start.
Chen, as if you needed reminding, exited the entertainment biz almost three years ago after explicit photos of him and a handful of Hong Kong’s famous female celebs were stolen from his computer and posted on the Internet. The Canto-pop star said at the time that he would devote his life to charity and community work.
Netizens’ knickers have been in a knot over the past few days because of the clownish antics Chen pulled while appearing on Here Comes Kang and Xi (康熙來了) to promote his new album Confusion.
Chen caused outrage after showing the program’s host, Dee Hsu (徐熙娣), aka Little S, how he takes pictures — an unambiguous reference to his fetish for photographing women in compromising positions, according to China Press dotCom (中國報新聞網).
When Hsu asked if Chen would take a broken computer into a shop to be fixed, he quickly replied, “No, no, no.”
“My computer broke down the month before last and I went out and just bought a new one,” he said.
The follow-up question should have been: Were there scandalous photographs on the hard drive? But Little S let it be. Instead, the talk show host asked Chen if he has taken any racy pictures of rumored girlfriend Vincy Yeung (楊永晴).
“Actually, I didn’t even have a camera for a year following [the scandal],” Chen said. “I was afraid that if somebody saw me photographing a dog they would mistake [my motives].”
Following the show’s airing, Hong Kong pop star Jordan Chan (陳小春) weighed in, writing on his blog that Chen’s behavior was a disgrace. It should be noted that Chan once dated actress and singer Cecilia Cheung (張柏芝), a star performer in Edison’s saucy photographs, and is married to actress Cherrie Ying (應采兒), who is rumored to have been one of Edison’s former beaus.
Then a micro-blog war broke out between fans of the two stars, who both share the same Chinese surname.
“How is it possible that we Chens could produce such a shameless person,” wrote one blogger, presumably surnamed Chen. Edison Chen’s fans struck back and said that “artists” need to stick together.
“I did not know why it generated so much talk,” said Edison Chen in an interview with Web site xinmsn.com. “This shows that I have flaws. I’ll change them in due time.”
Meanwhile, Yoga Lin (林宥嘉) settled the confusion over his run-in with Hong Kong’s paparazzi, refuting on his blog the claim that he attacked a few pesky photographers, as reported in Pop Stop last week.
Members of the paparazzi said that Lin angrily lunged at them after snapping pictures of him and girlfriend G.E.M., the stage name of Gloria Tang (鄧紫棋), while the couple were on a dinner and movie date.
Lin set the record straight, according to the Liberty Times, claiming that he acted aggressively because the four photographers emerged suddenly from the shadows calling his name. Seems reasonable enough.
And from the confused and confusing to the magnanimous. Show Luo (羅志祥, also known as Alan Luo), showed off his philanthropic side last weekend at an event held in Taipei’s Ximen District to celebrate the success of his new book Logic Course (羅輯課).
The United Daily News reported that during the event, Luo handed his mother, who was on hand, a blank check to fill in and donate to charities that help stray animals. She wrote down NT$200 million.
Luo proceeded to haggle the amount down to NT$3 million — a significantly less, though still respectable, sum.
A few days later, Ella Chen (陳嘉樺) of popular girl band S.H.E donated NT$200,000 to help build nursing homes. Let’s hope these two young stars are setting a trend that continues in the Year of the Rabbit.
