Asustek Computer Inc (華碩電腦) and Show Chwan Health Care System (秀傳醫療體系) have formed an alliance to provide healthcare services through cloud-computing technologies.
The two companies unveiled the “Love & Health Clouds” platform on Wednesday, which allows individuals to view their medical records, obtain physiological data and consult with medical professionals via smartphones or tablet computers.
They plan to introduce the platform in the first quarter of next year, said Peter Wu (吳漢章), chief executive officer of Asustek’s cloud services unit, Asus Cloud Corp (華碩雲端).
Show Chwan chairman Huang Min-ho (黃明和) said he hoped the platform would provide services in Taiwan and overseas.
As of Wednesday enterprises and hospitals including Microlife Corp (百略醫學), Leo System Inc (國眾電腦), Far EasTone Telecommunications Co (遠傳電信), Netown Corp (真茂科技), Zoetronics Corp (觀微科技), Taiwan Adventist Hospital and Taichung Veterans General Hospital had joined the alliance.
The alliance wants to attract 1 million local users for the cloud-based platform by the end of next year, Wu said.
Asus Cloud also aims to break into the healthcare market in China in the second half of next year, as the Chinese government is building its own standards for electronic health records, he said.
The firm’s private cloud business has 10 million registered users globally, up from 4 million last year. The number is expected to double next year after it launches new applications across different mobile platforms.

Betting sites have long been used to gauge which way voters might be leaning ahead of the world’s biggest televised live music event. However, bookmakers highlight a huge increase in engagement in recent years — and this year in particular. “We’ve already passed 2023’s total activity and

China yesterday announced anti-dumping duties as high as 74.9 percent on imports of polyoxymethylene (POM) copolymers, a type of engineering plastic, from Taiwan, the US, the EU and Japan. The Chinese Ministry of Commerce’s findings conclude a probe launched in May last year, shortly after the US sharply increased tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles, computer chips and other imports. POM copolymers can partially replace metals such as copper and zinc, and have various applications, including in auto parts, electronics and medical equipment, the Chinese ministry has said. In January, it said initial investigations had determined that dumping was taking place, and implemented preliminary
