The second ROC-Panama Economic Cooperation Joint Conference ended Tuesday with both sides signing a joint declaration on the boosting of bilateral economic and business relations. The declaration was signed by Wang Chung-yu (王鍾渝), deputy chairman of the Taipei-based Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association (CIECA), and Digna Donado, vice president of the Panamanian Private Business Federation. The two sides agreed in the document to step up trade in marine products, to push for the early signing of a bilateral free trade agreement and to boost exchanges among private enterprises. Wang and Donado said the two-day meeting was conducive to closer cooperation between the business sectors of the two nations.

A US uncrewed surface vessel (USV) encountered multiple Chinese warships during an autonomous transit of the Taiwan Strait, US defense company Seasats said in a statement on Wednesday. Seasats announced that a Lightfish USV had completed the first autonomous transit of the Taiwan Strait. Over five days, the USV traversed the entire length of the Strait while constantly monitoring surface vessel traffic, the company said. The Lightfish encountered multiple Chinese warships, one of which was a Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) Type 056 corvette, it said.
