Former Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) legislator Wang Hsueh-fung (王雪峰) yesterday appeared at the Sindian branch of the Taipei District Court to apply for protection against her husband.
Accompanied by her father, Wang said she had been living with her parents for two months to protect herself from physical abuse by her husband, Wang Tso-liang (王作良).
Wang Hsueh-fung's life after leaving politics was brought under the spotlight early last year when media reports said the couple had been struggling to make a living by collecting recyclables.
Answering reporters' questions outside the courthouse, Wang Hsueh-fung said when she recently went back to retrieve her things, her husband continued to be verbally abusive and showed no signs of remorse for physically assaulting her.
The former legislator went to court to apply for a restraining order so that she would not be hassled by her husband. She said she may also sue her husband for physical assault.
She added that she was considering a divorce.
