Civil servants look forward to 112 holidays next year

    STAFF WRITER, WITH CNA

Next year¡¦s calendar for government agencies includes 112 holidays, the Central Personnel Administration (CPA) said yesterday as it released its schedule for civil servants.

According to the calendar, the days off that civil servants will be entitled to include a nine-day Lunar New Year vacation.

In two instances, holidays fall on a Monday or Friday, which will give public servants a three-day weekend. The Republic of China Memorial Day holiday will run from Jan. 1 to Jan 3, while the Tomb Sweeping Day holiday will be from April 3 to April 5.

The nine-day Lunar New Year holiday will begin on Feb.13 and end on Feb. 21, but public servants will be required to work one extra day on Feb. 6.

Other holidays include the Dragon Boat Festival on June 16 and the Moon Festival on Sept. 22.

The CPA said its holiday calendar only applied to government agencies and that private enterprises should refer to the Labor Standards Act (³Ò°òªk) to plan their schedules.

The ¡§2010 Governmental Agencies Holiday Overview¡¨ has been posted on the CPA Web site at www.cpa.gov.tw.
