A bus carrying 41 passengers from Changhua City overturned in Longtan (龍潭), Taoyuan County, killing three passengers and injuring scores.
A preliminary investigation found the bus went out of control and rear-ended a truck on the freeway that runs through the rural township. The bus veered off the road, flipped over and careened down a slope, landing on a road below.
Scores of passengers and the driver were seriously injured and rushed to a hospital.
Three people were killed, the police said. Neighbors of one of the three deceased, Chuang Ching-ho (莊清和), said Chuang had rented the bus to travel with friends and relatives to his niece’s wedding in Taipei County.
