Hundreds turn out to pay respects to late first lady

Some 400 to 500 admirers of late first lady Soong Mayling (宋美齡) gathered to commemorate the 111th anniversary of her birth.
She was born on March 10, 1897, or on the 12th day of the second lunar month, which fell yesterday.
Although Soong, who was the wife of Chiang Kai-shek (蔣介石), passed away four years ago, "her love will stay forever with us as well as with all the organizations she set up," said Cecilia Koo (辜嚴倬雲), chairwoman of the event organizer, the National Women's League of the Republic of China (NWL).
The league was founded by Soong in 1950.
