Changhua County promotes long-stay tourism

STAFF WRITER, WITH CNA

Changhua County Commissioner Cho Po-yuan (卓伯源) on Monday promoted the county's newly developed long-stay tourism to the agricultural head of Japan's Nagano Prefecture, Yoshihisa Shiraishi, who visited Changhua County to strengthen bilateral relations.

Cho said preparations for long-stay tourism to the county's Erhshui Township (二水), which is located in the most southern part of the county, are almost complete and the county is ready to greet Japanese visitors, who are its prime target for tourists.

The Changhua County government particularly expects to draw visitors from the colder regions of Japan during the winter to spend between one and three months in the relatively warmer region, where the tourism industry is being integrated to provide a comfortable long-stay environment in a beautiful, natural setting rich in cultural resources, Cho said.

He specially mentioned that the residence of the late former vice president Hsieh Tung-min (謝東閔) would be used as one of the township's long-stay houses for visitors, with permission from Hsieh's family.

Cho said Nagano Prefecture and Changhua County officials started undertaking frequent interactions after visits by each side last year.
