Mayor vows to promote city development

    STAFF WRITER, WITH CNA

Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chu (陳菊) said on Friday that she would push for city development projects that best suit the interests of residents of Kaohsiung during the remaining three years of her term.

Chen also pledged to set a high standard for her city administration to build the city into a "warm, happy" one.

Chen made the remarks at a press conference held at the square in front of Kaohsiung City Hall after the Taiwan High Court's ruling.

Accompanied by her lawyer, Richard Lee (李勝琛), and department heads of her administration, Chen received warm cheers from her supporters at the square who celebrated the end of the lawsuit.

She said that she would meet the expectations of her supporters by working twice as hard in pushing for city development projects beneficial to city residents.

She also called on her supporters to throw their backing behind candidates nominated by the Democratic Progressive Party for next year's presidential and legislative elections to prevent similar election disputes from occurring again.
