Taiwan Quick Take: Taichi contest kicks off

The first International Taichi Chuan Championship, sponsored by the Republic of China Kuoshu and Wushu Federation, kicked off yesterday at Chiayi Stadium in Chiayi. More than 130 martial artists from 20 countries, including Hong Kong, South Africa, Singapore, India, Argentina, Japan,the United Kingdom, Uruguay and Italy, took part in the competition. Martial artists dressed in traditional Chinese costumes presented a wide range of taichi styles in the competition, including the Chen, Yang, Wu and Sun styles, and a variety of taichi forms covered in Asian Games Competition, as well as different taichi sword and taichi knife demonstrations.
