The Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) will activate a new phone service for Chinese spouses on Oct. 2, SEF Chairman Chang Chun-hsiung (±i«T¶¯) announced on Friday. The service aims to provide Chinese spouses living in Taiwan with a channel for getting answers to questions on health, parenting, legal issues, job-hunting and other topics. Chang said that the phone service is needed because Chinese spouses do not qualify to receive social benefits in Taiwan before they obtain identification cards. The number of the phone service is (02) 2718-9995.
