Taiwan Quick Take: Su uges passage of bills

Premier Su Tseng-chang (蘇貞昌) yesterday urged the legislature to approve all pending "Sunshine Bills" as soon as it begins its new session next week. The Cabinet yesterday approved the proposal for amendments to the Public Functionary Assets Disclosure Law (公職人員財產申報法) and will submit them to the legislature for final approval. Su said that to establish a clean political environment and a clean government, the Cabinet had been working hard to complete as many "Sunshine Bills" as possible, adding that it was a pity that many of these bills were still pending in the legislature. Su said that amendments to the Statute on the Disposition of Assets Improperly Obtained by Political Parties (政黨不當取得財產處理條例) and the proposed Lobbying Law (遊說法), the Statute Governing Political Donations (政治獻金管理條例) and the Political Party Law (政黨法) -- all crucial elements of the "Sunshine Bills" -- were pending.
