Friday, Apr 07, 2006, Page 3
A former Miss New Hampshire, Alyssa Spellman, is recovering in Taipei after being burned by skin care products she was using at a local spa. Spellman, 22, came to Taipei for a three-month stay as a foreign exchange student from Emerson College, according to a story in the UnionLeader newspaper in Manchester, New Hampshire. She and her friends decided to treat themselves to a spa during a break from school but Spellman was burned over 35 percent of her body, with the burns concentrated on her arms and torso. Sources told the newspaper that Spellman was removed from intensive care on Sunday and was able to walk a little on Monday. She is scheduled to graduate in June.
