Taiwan’s Lin Yu-ching pitches in last night’s Intercontinental Cup game against Japan in Taichung.

Rallying from behind not once, but twice, Taiwan outslugged Japan by a 12-5 margin in second-round action at the Intercontinental Cup Baseball Championship at the Intercontinental Baseball Stadium in Taichung last night.

The win not only avenged several previous losses to their nemesis from northern Asia for the hosts, but also improved their chances of advancing in the tournament as they look to close out the last-ever Intercontinental Cup with a grandstand finish.

Taiwan fell behind 0-4 in early play after a four-run second, but quickly erased the deficit by returning the favor in the bottom of the same inning to tie the game at 4-all.

Japan claimed a 5-4 lead in the top of the third before the Taiwanese bats awoke for three runs in the bottom of the same frame to take the lead for good in the eventual blowout victory.
