The Los Angeles Dodgers could add an extra game to the two-game exhibition series they plan to play in Taiwan next month, the event’s promoter said on Monday.
Bros Sports Marketing Co said it asked the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) if it was willing to play another game, and the league has given its consent in principle.
The request for the extra game has also been relayed to the US side, and an answer was expected to be received yesterday at the earliest.
“If the Dodgers agree to play one more game, we will start selling tickets next week,” a Bros executive said on Monday, with the game to played in Taipei on March 12.
The Dodgers are currently scheduled to play two games in Taiwan against a CPBL All-Star team on March 13 in Taipei and on March 14 in Kaohsiung.
The executive said Taipei’s Tianmu Baseball Stadium can only accommodate a crowd of 8,500 after seats with bad viewing angles are eliminated, prompting many fans to complain about the lack of tickets and leaving them hoping that the Dodgers could play an additional game.
Tickets for two exhibition games featuring the Los Angeles Dodgers in March sold out in just six hours, an organizer said yesterday.
Bros revealed that several Dodgers felt it would be fine to play an extra game in Taipei.
This will be the Dodgers’ second trip to Taiwan, and the third time since 2008 that a Major League team has traveled to Asia.
The Dodgers bost two Taiwanese players, Kuo Hong-chih and Hu Chin-lung, who will both be on the trip.
