UEFA president Michel Platini has confirmed that European soccer's governing body and police are investigating match-fixing in 15 top-level matches, a German newspaper reported yesterday.
"UEFA is investigating 15 games in cooperation with Europol," Platini told Welt am Sonntag in an interview.
"We discussed this problem with the European Union during its conference in Brussels on violence in sport" on Nov. 28 and Nov. 29, he said.
Platini's remarks follow a report in the latest edition of German news magazine Der Spiegel that UEFA has called in Europol to investigate possible match-fixing by Asian betting syndicates in top-flight European soccer.
